Blessed Advent and Joyful Christmas!

We pray that you might know God’s gracious love, how wide and deep it is, how life-changing and transforming it is to live as God’s beloved, basking in God’s unmerited favor and deep regard. If we could give you this as a tangible gift we would, but our gift is that of prayer for you that you are able to receive this truth, as the gift it is, ever more greatly in your soul and heart each day.

At such a time as this when darkness seems so deep, our prayer is also for God’s light and love to penetrate and pervade our world. Our steadfast hope is that the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:5). Two babies born into the world so long ago--one meant to prepare the way for the Messiah, the other the Messiah, the Christ-child, God with us. These birth stories are alive and as real for us today as they were over 2000 years ago. These are stories of divine love on a rescue mission and the voices that cry out for us to heed this love.

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son.... God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him (John 3:16-17). In God’s same way of entering the world, through human willingness to receive and in human form, we, too, are invited to say yes to divine initiative within our souls, that God’s love and light may again and again and again enter this dark world.

Much like John the Baptist, the other baby, we at Restoration Ministries have been called to be messengers preparing the way for the Lord. Please consider engaging in a simple practice for the remainder of 2012. Turn to God each morning with Come, Lord Jesus, inviting God’s light and love into your mind and heart. Pray for those in your life and those around you that they also may experience God’s light and love in their life. And while it may seem so dark in our world, pray that God’s light and truth will pervade and break through the bondage of dark thoughts and evil actions of hatred, violence and self-destruction. Come, Lord Jesus, come.
